General Privacy Statement
Truth In Action Ministries (herein referred to as “TIA”) has a firm co
mmitment to protect personal identification information that you share with us.  As such, we have developed this Privacy Policy to communicate this commitment to you, our members, partners, and subscribers.  Our web site offers content and services including both links to co-branded, affiliate ministry web sites, as well as independent third party web sites.  We encourage you to review the privacy policy posted on each of these web sites to determine how your privacy is protected.

There are three types of information that TIA collects on our web sites:

General Personal Identification Information

User Surveys and Polling From time to time, as we see fit, TIA may request that you take part in a survey or poll.  For example, you may see an advertisement on our web site to participate in our “Spiritual State of the Nation” survey.  These surveys and polls are completely voluntary and may be either posted on our web sites or sent out via email.  You may easily decline to participate or elect to not receive email surveys in the future.

Web Site Usage
In order to benchmark performance of our web sites, TIA logs anonymous information each time you visit the site. This information includes: Time and Date of visit, IP address, host, client (browser type) and the referrer by which you came to our web site. This information is used strictly for statistical analysis.  In addition to anonymous information, TIA may collect and track web site usage patterns for our subscribed members.  This may include pageview history, search queries, media file access and downloads, length of visit, number of features used, etc.  This information is kept completely confidential and may be used for the purposes of providing enhanced web offerings on our web sites in the future.  This web site usage information is NOT shared or sold to any third parties under any circumstances, the only exception being inquiries by local, state, federal, and international authorities.

How Information is Used
Information that is collected may be used for the following purposes:
  • For purposes which they were given (i.e. to validate an email subscription, or to process an order)
  • To send email newsletters, or notifications about TIA resources, products, services, or in general, to contact you
  • To enhance our web sites and user experience by developing new products, services, web offerings based on usage patterns
  • Provide third parties with general aggregate information about our sites traffic and user base
  • To personalize web site user experience (including content) based on personal user profiles or characteristics
In addition to the information collected on our web sites, we may combine this with information that you have provided to TIA via other mediums. We may also hire third party companies to gather information or perform services on our behalf.  For instance, we may hire a firm to perform a research survey, or we may have a third party firm send email newsletters out on our behalf.  These third parties may be given access to your personal identification information exclusively for the purposes for which they have been hired on our behalf. Any personal identification information collected from our web sites shall never be shared, licensed, or sold, to any third party with the exception of the following:
  • You give advanced consent by opting-in to receive information from third parties

Special Email Communications
From time to time, as TIA sees fit, we may send out email communications asking you to support TIA both prayerfully and financially.  Although we take care to not send these types of emails frequently, we respect your request to cease receiving such emails.  At the bottom of each email there is a link that reads, “To modify your email subscription, please click here.”  When you click on the link, you will be taken to a web page where you can modify your email subscriptions, or cease all future email transmissions from TIA.  In addition, you may request to no longer receive email communications from TIA by sending an email to letters@truthinaction.org, or by telephone at 1-800-988-7884.  You may also send us a written notice of your request.

Tracking Devices
TIA web sites and email communications may employ tracking devices such as cookies and web beacons.  A “cookie” is simply a string of text sent from a web server to a web browser that is used to differentiate and store information about a user's visit, or possibly, multiple visits.  A web beacon is typically very tiny transparent image embedded in a web page or email that tracks visits or email open rates.  These tracking devices are used in order to measure the traffic to a particular web page, the number of opens of a particular email, or to provide any other metric of performance of a particular electronic communication piece.

Security of Personal Information
Personal information that is collected is stored on servers that have limited access.  We employ security measures to ensure that the information that is collected is protected from unauthorized access or improper usage.  We will retain your personal information as long as necessary in order to facilitate the purposes that have been communicated you and comply with applicable law and regulations.
