Sermon:

The Man Who Missed the Moment

Scripture: John 20:24-31
Topics: Resurrection
Preached at: Coral Ridge Presbyterian Church
Date: November 10, 1996
Thomas the Apostle missed the most glorious moment in history. He was not present with the other apostles when Jesus Christ appeared to them, risen from the dead. There never was a Sunday evening service like that—never really will be again. His disciples were together, and Jesus came and stood in the midst and showed them His hands and ate fish and honey in their presence. Then there is that very, very sad verse which says, “But Thomas…was not with them when Jesus came” (John 20:24). When the disciples told him about it later, he didn’t believe it. So they left him in his darkness, in his doubt, in his depression, in his despair, in his hopelessness, which are all the fruits of unbelief. But a week later, Thomas did come. When Jesus came, He invited Thomas to examine Him. Thomas exclaimed, “My Lord and my God” and worshiped Him.
