Sermon:

America: One Nation Under God?

Scripture: Psalm 33:8-12
Preached at: Coral Ridge Presbyterian Church
Date: October 19, 2003
If our rights and liberties do not come from God and are not inalienable, they come from the State, and they are very alienable. The State gives and the State takes away what it gives, according to its own pleasure. When you get rid of inalienable rights that come from God, you get very alienable rights that come from a totalitarian State. When the State is the final authority, that is totalitarianism; that is despotism. That is exactly what the French established in France shortly after the American Revolution, that all rights of all people came from the sovereign State—and the blood flowed in the streets of Paris. But the founders of America said our rights come from the Creator.
