It was said of the early Christians that they “have turned the world upside down.” Dr. Kennedy points out that the purpose of every single Christian in this world should be to change the world for Christ. The apostle Paul and Silas had been preaching in Phillipi where many people had been converted. There was a great tumult wherever they went. Opponents of Paul and his colleagues said of them, “These that have turned the world upside down are come hither also.” Dr. Kennedy notes, “Of course, we know, as we see it from the proper perspective, that the world is already turned upside down. What we are trying to do is turn it right side up. It was the pagan conception of turning the world upside down. Certainly we live in a world that desperately needs to be turned right side up in our time.”
