Sermon:

Christian Citizenship

Topics: Politics
Preached at: Coral Ridge Presbyterian Church
Date: September 18, 1988
We need to remember the great patriots, the great Christian men and women who gave us this nation and a day to consider what we have done with this great boon that has been handed down to us—the freedom of a great and glorious land. It is a time, also, to consider what Jesus Christ said to us about the matter of our responsibility as citizens. He has declared, “Render unto Caesar the things which are Caesar’s; and unto God the things that are God’s.” Here we see very clearly that there are two spheres in which we are to render our due responsibilities. There is the spiritual and eternal realm of the Kingdom of God, and there are our responsibilities to the kingdom of this world, where we are to render the things due unto Caesar.
